Bongos and Jo

Jo is a 30 year old Romanian born coworker who I met a last year while we were paired up for a couple of photography assignments. I was surprised about how open she was to modelling sans clothing. After a few attempts to secure a time and place to meet our schedules, Jo informed me that she did not have a friend to accompany her for our shoot or care if I had an assistant. Luckily for me, Fernanda who had just finished modelling with a French Horn agreed to stay on for the duration of Jo’s session

Also thanks to Chris Hess at Long and McQuade musical instrument store in Gravenhurst for securing the instrument for this shoot.

History of the bongos. According to Wikipedia.com bongos are an Afro-Cuban percussion instrument consisting of a pair of small open bottomed hand drus of different sizes. They were developed in the late 19th century in Cuba. Interesting fact: the larger of to two drums, hembra (lit. ‘female’) and the smaller macho (lit ‘male’). Famous bongo artists include Jack Costanzo (Mr Bongo), Candido Camero, Armando Peraza, and Bongo Herman
